This morning, I got an extra hour of sleep... yes. I needed it because I ventured off to St. Pauls Cathedral for church today. St. Paul's is the unofficial center of the anglican church built inspired by the mind of Christopher Wren in its modern form. This building has been a true testiment to the relentlessness of English spirit. It has survived in some form the great fire, and both nazi germany blitz
When I got off of the tube I immeidately heard the bells. It was a beautiful sound. All I did was follow the bells for direction to the cathedral. Upon entrance you look into the nave and straight towards the alter. Then when youre seated you look up and see the most beautiful paintings on the walls. There is one piece of the wall that made me shake. It was a painting of Jesus Light of the World. Depicting Jesus surrounded by a golden aura similar to chad bakers orange glow in the midst of darkness.
The actual service was 92% sung by the choir and yet we still had to stand. That wasn't so fun considering the long night I had. But nevertheless it made me appreciate the building so much more.
The lesson of the day was spoken (not sung) and really hit me. I am at a school where religion and spirituality is not really top priority in life. I also consider myself to be jovial in my youth but I do keep an eye to the sky for guidance. The lesson was basically centered around Jesus saying that We didn't chooseh him. He chose us. And because of that fact no matter what our faults are as humans it doesn't matter because e have been chosen for a reason and nothing can force God to turn his back to us. Quite lovely.
After the service I was gonna sight see and go to the tower of london. But it was a rainy english day today. instead i returned back to new cross and took a much needed nap.
Today was a sports blitz in london:
Arsenal (sworn football enemy for me) vs Liverpool
Tottenham (my footie club of choice here in london) vs Blackburn
and
Giants vs Miami Dolphins!!!!!!!!!
Excellent! Well I'm off to eat dinner...
By the way, I need to tell you how good I am eating here. Yesterday I made lamb and sweet potatos with a salad on the side. All types of Delicious.
Tonight fried chicken, just because I can.
Cheers!
